Hound groupFor many years, most Greyhounds found homes with families following brief racing careers. But with Greyhound racing now illegal in most of the United States, it's more typical to find them bred to be pets. The breed is loving and prefers exercise in short, intense bursts, followed by long naps on soft beds. Although loving with human family members, some former racers may not be compatible with smaller pets, such as rabbits.

Your Greyhound does not need to go to a professional groomer, but you may wish to visit one as needed for nail trims or if you'd like a hand with baths.
How often should I bathe my Greyhound?
Greyhounds can be bathed monthly, weekly or as needed (if they roll in mud, for example!). Use a pet-specific shampoo and conditioner or an all-in-one product. If your dog’s coat or skin isn’t looking healthy, check with your veterinary healthcare team to see what might be causing the problem.
